Although there’s more talk of coal plants being shuttered in Texas, Calpine is actually moving to shut down one of its older natural gas-fired power plants. The 31-year-old Clear Lake plant has more outdated technology. Growing maintenance costs and shrinking profits made it the choice, the company said.
