U.S. petroleum stocks made a big jump as domestic oil production hit 11 million barrels a day last week for the first time ever, the U.S. Energy Department said.
Commercial crude oil inventories spiked by 5.8 million barrels – a bigger increase than anticipated – although that was offset somewhat by gasoline stockpiles dipping by 3.2 million barrels.
