Dow chemical workers are entering their third day of a company lockout in Deer Park without a clear end date in sight. Dow called a lockout – the company equivalent of strike – at 2 p.m. Monday as way to exert more pressure on the union during labor contract talks. About 230 members of the United Steelworkers union are barred from working until the company ends the lockout or the two sides reach a new labor agreement.
