The world’s expanding middle class led by China and India is creating 4.3 percent increase in new chemicals demand — mostly for plastics — each year, which is more than twice the 2 percent growth rate for energy demand, Exxon Mobil Chemical President Neil Chapman said at a luncheon with the National Association of Manufacturing.
