The former head of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is officially out as President Donald Trump’s pick to head the national Council on Environmental Quality. Kathleen Hartnett White, who served as Texas’s top environmental official under former governor Rick Perry, had come under fire over her comments on climate change and renewable energy during a difficult senate hearing last year. She has now released a statement withdrawing her name from consideration.
