As the global refining industry readies for the shipping industry’s shift to burning cleaner marine fuels, analysts are warning that not all refineries are ready for what could be one of the biggest regulatory shocks to the refining industry in decades. The shift could even force some refineries in Europe and Asia to close in the wake of a big glut in heavier bunker fuels, analysts speaking at the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers conference in San Antonio said this week.
